Intercepted on return flight over Weston-s-Mare and severely damaged by Spitfires of Yellow Section , 92 Sq. (Pembrey) - P/O. H.D.Edwards, P/O. C.H.Saunders and Sgt. R.H.Fokes. Crashed at 15.25 hrs at Longmoor Farm, Gillingham, Dorset. Saunders and Fokes landed alongside the wreck and assisted in rescue work.

The Dornier was shot down and crash-landed at Nutford Farm, 1 mile north of Blandford, Dorset at 15.00 hrs. During the combat Hurricane P3767, flown by P/O. C.T.Davies, was damaged by return fire.

At 00.30 hrs F/Lt. H.Speke flying a Beaufighter of 604 Sq. (Middle Wallop) was vectored onto a bomber flying at about 5200 metres over Ringwood in Hampshire. The enemy aircraft was identified as a Heinkel but, as Speke closed in, he discovered that the dimmer on his gunsight had failed. Despite being dazzled, he opened fire and saw strikes made on the bomber before it dived away.

Crash-landed at St.Trond-Brusthem at 04.53 hrs with 55% damage. No crew casualties.

Ranke and de Wall are buried in Greenbank Cemetery, Bristol.

This aircraft appears to have become lost probably due to "Meacom" activity.It sent an "SOS" at 22.26 hrs and at 23.45 hrs was intercepted and attacked 40 miles south of Worthing by S/L J.G.Topham DFC and F/L Strange on Beaufighter II X7690 of 219 Sq. (Tangmere). At 00.16 hrs it received a D/F/ fix from Paris-Villacoublay giving a position 40 miles NE of Cherbourg. It then homed on Caen from the NW and at 00.34 hrs signalled "Landing - Pankcake Landing", but appears to hve crashed into the sea as it was called between 00.35 and 00,59 hrs without reply. The bodies of Graf and Jansen were subsequently recovered from the sea.

This aircraft took off at 21.36 hrs from Brussels-Evere briefed to intrude over night fighter airfields in the Wiltshire area to disrupt night flying. The crew subsequently became lost over England due to "Meacon" activity and at 22.35 hrs was claimed damaged by Cardiff HAA gun site J16B on Flat Holm Island in the Mouth of the River Severn (351/112 HAA Rgt). It was initially picked up by the Gun Laying Radar at a range of 42,000 yards and engaged with 6 rounds of 4.7" at a height of 8000 feet. The target, which was tracked through 180 degrees, then lost height disappearing at an altitude of 6000 feet and a distance of 1900 yards before crossing the coast near Chepstow. The Junkers then flew up the Wye Valley before being shot down by F/O Wyrill and Sgt Willins in Beaufighter X7933 of 255 Sq (High Ercall), crashing at 23.50 hrs at Lan-haylo Farm, Gwaunceste Hill, Builth Wells, Brecon. The crew, originally buried in Glascwm churchyard were later moved to the German Military Cemetery at Cannock Chase.

It was probably the aircraft which reported "Flying on One Engine" and is known to have subsequently forced landed at Avord airfield 30% damaged.
